Line Graphs

Up Verbs

  • “Soar “and “rocket” are both very strong words that describe large rises. “Rocket” is more sudden. You probably do not need to qualify these verbs with adverbs.
  • “Leap” shows a large and sudden rise. Again, you probably do not need to qualify it with an adverb.
  • “Climb” is a relatively neutral verb that can be used with the adverbs below.
Beginning at 0 on the line graph the numbers soared to 10 within 4 units.
Beginning at 0 on the line graph the numbers rose slowly to 4 before leaping to 8 within 4 units.
Beginning at 0 on the line graph the numbers climbed incrementally to 5 within 10 units.

Formal Letter

Salutation: Dear [Recipient’s Title and Last Name],

Introduction:

  • I am writing to express my [concerns/appreciation] regarding [mention the topic/purpose of the letter].
  • I am writing in connection with [explain the reason for the letter].
  • I am writing to seek your assistance in relation to [describe the issue].

Main Body:

  • Firstly, I would like to bring to your attention [state the main point or issue].
  • Furthermore, I believe it is essential to mention that [provide supporting details].
  • I have noticed that [describe the situation] and would appreciate your guidance on this matter.

Paragraph 2: (prompt 2)

  • In addition, it is worth noting that [present another aspect or evidence].
  • I would like to request your assistance in [explain what you need from the recipient].
  • It has come to my attention that [provide more information on the topic].

Paragraph 3: (prompt 3)

  • Moreover, I wish to highlight [add more information or evidence].
  • I kindly request your intervention to [describe the action you want the recipient to take].
  • To further emphasize the importance of this issue, I would like to mention that [include additional supporting details].

Conclusion:

  • In conclusion, I hope that you will consider my [request/concerns].
  • Your prompt attention to this matter would be greatly appreciated.
  • I look forward to your response and a resolution to the issue.
